Co-owners and partners Lorin Loire and Chez Twine have created a tropical paradise and have generously invited SL residents to visit, enjoy the romantic beaches, the many lovely places to cuddle, the dance floor to hold loved ones close and the many other activities there.
Loire spoke of her inspiration in creating Enchanted Isles, "I have enjoyed Mauritius over the years, and I normally stay at the Tousserok Hotel. It has private islands and beaches, and I guess I have modeled the sim on those and the rest of Mauritius."
Twine gives total credit to Loire for the terraforming and building, saying, "She's a pro." She admits that it's a lot of work to maintain, but it's a lot of fun too. Twine is also the PR Coordinator and organizes dance and other types of events. They've had weddings there at the request of visitors who have been captivated by the beautiful environment and are considering offering this as a service as well.
Loire reflected that the sim started as a private place to live and experiment. She added, "I learn all my SL skills by trial and error so having somewhere to make errors was essential." Over time, the sim began to take shape and when friends came to visit, most asked to be allowed to return. This is when Loire and Twine decided to share the sim with the public. "Since then, we have never had the place to ourselves, but I love the company and the comments from visitors", Loire said.
Of terraforming, Loire remarked, "I love to play God, making the ground into shapes that I dream of. It's far easier to terraform an entire sim than to maintain my small garden in England!" She went on to say, "The basic layout is designed by need and logic as I wanted to have my house and beach, three or four secluded rentals and also about one-fourth of the sim divided for a nude beach. Then I chose a light. By that I mean I looked at tropical beaches at all times of day and sunset sees them at their best. So, being selfish, I faced my house towards the sunset. Designing the house was easy as I am a RL architect, and we spend hours dreaming of what we would build in an ideal world."
To affect realism, she incorporated areas of "stormy rain, lightening, thunder, huge sea swells, etc." She traveled SL to find the perfect plants and trees while incorporating the detail of birds, sounds and animals which Loire feels, "makes the sim what it is." One fantastic finishing touch she recently completed was to make the sim midnight magical by lighting waves, plants, torches and many other objects.
Loire and Twine say that first and foremost what they consider the main activity at Enchanted Isles is "peace." It's a place to come for quiet romantic walks, swims and cuddles in idyllic surroundings. Loire suggests that, "The cave and storm bay are places you must visit, and all are welcome to wander around our house and garden."
For those who prefer more physical activity, the sims also offers sky diving, power boating, and flying helicopters. There is also the QUEST, a treasure hunt type game to find clues all over the sim.
