Nine male and nine female contestants took to the runway to prove that they had the right stuff to win the competition. Each was also required to respond to a final question while on stage. There was a buzz of excitement in the room as Amiot, from Sweden, and Vella, a Canadian, were announced as the new Mr. and Ms. VR International. Amazingly, it was Vella's very first strut down a runway yet her confidence and hard work obviously paid off.
Publisher and Managing Editor of VR Style Magazine, iolejanana Chajit, along with Nadia Felwitch, Fashion Editor of VR Style Magazine and co-owner of Silver Star Modeling Agency, organized the competition and the title event.
Chajit spoke about the competition, "Our contestants ranged from models to builders to business owners. However, what they all had in common was the desire for something bigger and better and we hope we were able to provide them with that." The intention for the competition at its inception was in Chajit's words, "... we wanted it to be something special. We intended for it to not only be attractive to the modeling community but also to anyone who considered themselves risk takers; someone who had a dream of being able to experience something they never had before and to put themselves out there." She went on to say, "I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know each of our finalists on some level and it was a fun, loving, professional and very competitive group this year."
Ms. VR International, Vella, commented on her title win, "It was tremendously exciting to participate in the Ms. VR International 2010 pageant! Nadia (Felwitch) and iole (Chajit) are amazing women - so wonderfully supportive and fantastic organizers!! I'm very new to the fashion industry - this was my first pageant - and I couldn't have asked for a better group of people. When I was announced as the winner, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I never considered I might win when there were so many beautiful, experienced and extraordinarily talented women in the competition! Now I'm looking forward to learning more, improving my skills, getting to know the modeling community and finding work! I'm represented now by SilverStar Modeling Agency and feel fortunate to be in such good hands!"
Vella offered some thoughts on the creative designers of SL, "I became interested in modeling and the fashion world out of the admiration and respect I have for the many excellent artists/creators in SL who devote their time and talents to producing the clothing, jewelry, hair, skin, poses and animations, etc. that add so much beauty and interest to this world. I also enjoy the creativity of finding movement combinations on the runway that are natural and expressive, displaying the clothing and my personality in a lively and compelling way. I hope to contribute through modeling by celebrating and promoting the work of the creators and inspiring more women to become interested in fashion."
