Sim of the Week

Most of Da Vinci's inhabitants live in the sky but one who chose to live on the ground built this airy beach house out of white
Slipping through the slide streams of Second Life, we find ourselves skidding down the ramp to Da Vinci.
Da Vinci is a middle sim in a block of 26 sims named after famous classical painters. These sims appear to be mainly residential with a few businesses tucked into the corners.
Teleporting into Da Vinci, you first find yourself on a sky platform called the Confederate Rose. Owned by Reecou Kirkorian, there are several venders of women's clothing and accessories. One box is freebies while the others are for sale. In one corner of the platform is an indoor shop where psychedelic art and lava lamps can be found. There are some very nice table sculptures that are called Living Coffee Table Art. They include a couple of volcanoes and waterfalls done on microscopic scale. The audio loop here was highly repetitive and disturbing.
As far as I could tell, there was no way off this platform but to jump. So, dear readers, open parasols and we will do our Mary Poppins impersonation ... and jump.
Jumping off the south side, we fall past several other sky platforms too fast to see what they are until we come to rest on a sandy beach. These sims are an "L" shaped peninsula off one of the main lands.
In this collection of sims you will find beach living at its finest. Each parcel of land has water access with cozy shacks to cabanas for privacy.
Starting at the south east corner of the sim, we find a lagoon built by Blake Panache. Here a beautiful waterfall pours down into a shining inlet.
Next door is a Japanese teahouse owned by Netoniel Swashbuckler, residing behind the red bars of friendship.
Heading farther west along southern border, we find a lovely little beach scene owned by DaVinci Leonard. Here palm trees cast their shade over a restful hideaway.
In the south west corner, there is a lovely structure group owned by The Clubhouse Staff. It appears to be a rental place and would be ideally set up for weddings and receptions. It overlooks several art galleries on a neighboring sim.
Turning north, we find open water with several small islets. One of the larger ones is owned by a group called ZyngoSphere which appears to be a gaming club.
Turning west we find a very steep hill owned by ZyngoSphere as well. Most of Da Vinci seems to be prim farms supporting sky platforms with very few exceptions.
Back in the south west corner, we come across another build of Blake Panache. This build is a classic white granite tiles house with two outdoor rooms. Wisteria drips down from hanging baskets by the front door while ancient Hindu god heads stand guard at the doorstep. A set of wind chimes plays softly while you enjoy the light splash of water from a nearby fountain.
One small side house is the bedroom. Large paned windows serve as the door to this restful retreat. The center building is a very classic living room/dining room combination with the kitchen in a separate building to the side. It is a very zen feeling set up that takes advantage of the best of the lands features.
And so we bid goodbye to Da Vinci. If you do plan a trip there, be sure to check out its neighboring sims and see what the classic painters have to offer.
