SL prepares for the holidays

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Yet another holiday season is upon the virtual landscape, and Second Life residents are preparing in a variety of ways. Additionally, Linden Lab has brought Winterfest back for another year.

Winterfest 2010, a week-long tribute to wintertime activities in Second Life, runs through December 18.  On Dec. 14, several live music events are scheduled. Jean Munro performs at 2 pm SLT, while Keiko Takamura will entertain at 5 pm, with The Follow rounding out the day at 6pm.

Also that day, the Global Online Hockey Association (GOHA) has several events planned: a Farm Division Rookie Training at noon and an Open Hockey Game at 7:15. All events take place on the GOHA's sims.

On Dec. 15, another hockey game is scheduled for 5 pm SLT, followed by the live music of Phemie Alcott at 6, Craig Lyons at 7, and TwinGhost Ronas at 8.

Dec. 16 is packed with events. Another GOHA Farm Division Rookie Training is planned for 2 pm, followed by musician Louis Volare at 3pm. The annual Linden/Resident snowball fight will be held at 4pm in Breakaway. At 6pm, the sim of Off Sides will host a ski jump tournament. Dann Numbers will perform at 7pm, followed by Lance Rembrand at 8.

Another Linden/resident snowball fight is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 17, at 8am SLT. Later that afternoon, there will be a Snow Maze race at 2pm. Another open hockey game starts at 5pm, while a meet and greet with other winter sports' groups is scheduled for 6 to 9pm. At 7, Buckley Moonwall will perform, followed by Maximillion  Kleene at 8.

Saturday ends Winterfest with a bang (or more appropriate, a snow ball to the face) with live music starting at 8am. David Csiszer performs first, with Mimi Carpenter taking the stage at 9. The Puckettes will perform at 3pm, followed by more live music by Edward Kyomoon at 4. An open hockey game is scheduled for 5pm, and a 7pm bonfire party with DJ Ashlene McMinnar/Merrik Caproni ends the fest for this year.
